Formerly known as Garza–Little Elm Reservoir in North Texas, Lewisville Lake is a reservoir located on the Elm Fork of Trinity River in Denton County, near Lewisville. The reservoir was originally built as Lake Dallas in 1927. It was expanded and renamed Lewisville Lake in the 1950s and 1940s. It was originally built to flood control purposes, and to provide water for Dallas & its suburbs. However, residents also use it as a recreational area.
