Lake Travis is a reservoir located on the Colorado River in central Texas, the United States. It serves principally as flood-control reservoir. The historical minimum and maximum water height changes at Lake Travis are close to 100 feet. It saw a 20-foot increase in water depth within 24 hours in 2018. Lake Travis, which covers 30 miles of surface, has the highest storage capacity of all seven reservoirs called the Highland Lakes. It stretches 65 miles (105km) upriver from the western Travis County (near Lago Vista in Texas) and runs through southern Burnet County to Max Starcke Dam (southwest of Marble Falls). The lake is used to control floods and provide water for recreation.
