Lake Texoma, one of the most important reservoirs in the United States, is the 12th largest US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) lake and the largest in USACE Tulsa District. It is located 726 miles (1,168km) upstream of the river’s mouth. It is at the confluence between the Red and Washita Rivers. In 1944, the project was completed. The damsite is located approximately 5 miles (8 km) northwest Denison in Texas and 15 miles (24.4 km) southwest Durant in Oklahoma.
