Lake Halbert is a reservoir located in the Trinity River Basin, just south of Corsicana, central Navarro County. It is owned by and operated for municipal, industrial and recreational purposes by the city. The dam’s construction began in 1920 and was completed in 1921. The spillway was elevated one foot to 368 feet above the mean sea level in 1950. With a surface area measuring 650 acres, the reservoir’s capacity is 7,420 acre feet. Twelve square miles of drainage area is located above the dam. The terrain is flat and rolling, with clay loams and sandy loams which support water-tolerant hardwoods.
